The Met Gala is officially over and "The First Monday in May" is behind us. The event which is held annually at the Metropolitan Museum Of Art in New York City, to raise funds for the Met Costume Institute, has always been a destination for the best celebrity red-carpet looks of the year. This year’s theme honored the iconic style of Karl Lagerfeld, and A-list guests were asked to dress “in honor of Karl,” So you could imagine there were, of course, many designs that paid tribute to his signature black & white style, pearls, camellias, beautiful tweeds, and his known affinity for dazzling bejeweled ensembles.
But the best-dressed stars of the evening did not necessarily go to the ladies in attendance. On the contrary, I believe personally, that the men outshined them all! It’s so refreshing to see how these stars and their respective designers, paid homage to the late great Karl Lagerfeld in their own right.
Gone are the days of the basic black tuxedo (did someone say encrusted 'accoutrements' and statement overcoats!)
Here is my personal selection, (in no particular order) of the best-dressed men at the 2023 Met Gala:
Eddie Redmayne in Alexander McQueen
Idris Elba in Gucci
Bradley Cooper in Tom Ford
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander In Thom Browne
Simu Liu in Versace and a brooch by Toni & Chloe Goutal
Trevor Noah in Thom Browne
Tom Ford in Tom Ford
Julius Tennon (and Viola Davis) in Valentino
Cai Xukun in Prada
James McAvoy (and Lisa Liberati) in Dunhill, Cartier, and Chloé
